
Police have recovered the body of an unidentified individual from the Ottawa River near Pembroke.
Police reported late this afternoon that on Wednesday, June 17, shortly before 11 am, the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) OPP responded to a report of a body being located in the Ottawa River, offshore from Mountainview Drive in Pembroke.
Members of the UOV detachment, assisted by the OPP Marine Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Remote Piloted Air Support system, recovered the body from the water this afternoon.
The OPP Forensic Identification Unit is also assisting in this investigation.
A post mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the identity of the individual and to determine the cause of death.
The investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, remains ongoing.
