Canadian Nuclear Laboratories says its security services responded Tuesday morning to a “suspicious package” at the Chalk River labs.
In a community bulletin posted to their website Tuesday, the company said that “earlier today,” a suspicious package was received at CNL’s Chalk River Logistics Facility and “isolated for further inspection.”
“CNL Security Services responded rapidly, following all required safety procedures that included removing all staff from the building and limiting access to the Chalk River site.
“As part of the procedural response, CNL Security Services requested support from local police authorities. Police were able to successfully trace the package and there were no security or safety concerns.
“Normal operations were resumed at approximately 12:00 pm.”
CNL said the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission was “promptly notified” of the event.
“CNL confirms that there is no threat to workers, the public, the environment or nuclear safety related to this event.”
