It could have been a very unhappy start to the new year for one local family, but fortunately there was no major damage and no injuries after Deep River firefighters responded to a call of an oven fire Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded within minutes of the mid-morning call and remained on scene to ensure the situation was safe and clear the home of smoke.
