Serious charges laid in domestic dispute

A young Pembroke woman faces charges after a domestic dispute turned violent early Thursday morning.

Police report that on November 19, 2020, at just after 3 am, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute between two people at a residence on Elizabeth Street in Pembroke.

A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of being assaulted with an “edged weapon.”

A 24-year-old female has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 23, 2020.
